Mount Mary
Welcome to Mount Mary or Krichauff, as it was originally named. Just 22 kilometres up the old rail track from Morgan is the historic railway stop of Mount Mary.
Mt Mary was the first stop out of Morgan and it was here that the boom-times began in 1878 when the railway opened and six trains a day operated between here and Adelaide. The railway helped open up the country and lots of camps and settlements appeared along the track carved out of the saltbush.
The last train pulled out in 1969 leaving the classic outback pub alone but not forgotten….(be sure to drop in and say g’day)
The land surrounding the area can be rough and rugged with full-on scrub and heavy woodlands. Offering privacy and seclusion these properties are amazing hideaways and escapes, 50 meters into these blocks you simply disappear into the scrub…
Beautiful and densely vegetated this land on offer is teeming with wildlife. All the natives are there to be found including Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats, Frill Necked Lizards, Mallee Parrots, Wedge Tailed Eagles to name a few. They are also joined by some not so welcome residents such as Rabbits, Foxes and Goats.
Mt Mary is often referred to as the ‘inner outback’, a must see for anyone interested in buying top notch South Aussie bushland.
High clearance and 4 WD vehicles recommended.
